Sometimes food just doesn’t seem to get the attention it should – maybe it’s the way it looks or maybe it’s the name. Sometimes it’s just that we don’t see it at the supermarket or if we do maybe we have no idea just how tasty it is. What we have discovered is that according to some of the experts there are 9 uncommon, but powerful foods men should be eating to help increase metabolism, build muscle, improve heart health and boost your immunity. Let’s have a look – how many of these have you tried before?Male Symbol

#1 Kefir

Kefir is fermented milk and it has a whopping 2:3 protein to carbohydrates ratio. Once kefir makes it to your digestive tract, it’s the equivalent of a fertilizer, because it releases billions of bacteria that are beneficial to your immune system and heart.

#2 Bison

Bison is leaner than beef with less than half the total fat, but bison is still packed with key nutrients, like selenium, B vitamins and zinc, which are necessary for maximum testosterone production, energy and immune function.

#3 Kamut

This heart-healthy whole grain has a nutty-taste. It yields almost twice the nutrients of wheat, with a cup containing 7 grams of fiber and 10 grams of protein. It’s also packed with antioxidants, potassium and zinc.

#4 Sauerkraut

The fermentation process of Sauerkraut causes a concentration of the anticancer compounds found in cabbage to occur along with overall immune boosting. Fermented foods like sauerkraut are also packed with good bacteria that help to optimize your digestive tract.

#5 Sprouted Grains

Sprouted grains have started to germinate but have not finished. They can have three times the soluble fiber, which is a key to controlling blood sugar. Sprouted grains are great for the metabolism and the heart.

#6 Cauliflower

Cauliflower is in the cabbage family, but when it comes to nutrition, it is thought of as “white broccoli.” Cauliflower contains indole-3-carbinol, which is a compound that is believed to stop cancer and repair DNA. It’s also great for your immune system and your metabolism.

#7 Prunes

Prunes offer a combination of carbs and fiber.  Dried plums provide carbs that can stop blood sugar swings. A UC Davis study suggests that prunes may also help reduce blood levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol, which is great for the heart and it increases metabolism too.

#8 Mussels

Muscles have a lot going for them. They are affordable and sustainable. Muscles are rich in protein with about 20 grams per serving. They are also packed with Vitamin C, Vitamin B12, iron, and magnesium – these can all help you recover from exercise and speed up your metabolism.

#9 Macadamia Nuts

A serving of Macadamia nuts yields 17 grams of monounsaturated fat, which is the fat that’s heart healthy. These nuts are even better than walnuts or almonds when you compare good-fat content. If you want a great snack compliment with chocolate. Macadamia nuts are great for speeding up your metabolism and for your heart health.

#10 A Secret Tip

Great – these nine foods may not be that common, but they are powerful for all men, so you should try them! But it’s always fun to have a secret tip and while this isn’t a food it’s a tip you won’t want to forget – HGH supplements – they can help with your metabolism, weight loss, lean muscle gain, and keeping your organs healthier and more youthful. If you aren’t familiar with HGH and HGH supplements, you’ll want to change that!

  1. I didn’t think mussels were all that healthy! I eat them all of the time and thought they had very little nutritional value to them. Where can I get kefir and does it look like regular milk?

    • I’m not a dude, but I’m a huge fan of sauerkraut. My dad has been eating this stuff for years. I like it — hot or cold — with or without sausage. Kind of German-style. It makes my mouth pucker but it’s pretty good.

  2. Buffalo is incredible! I had a buffalo steak last week and it was the most amazing thing I ever tasted. To think that it’s good for you too? I am serving it at my next cookout and see the response I get!
